The Exhibition 1906-2006 Ramón Rubial. Spaniard in the Century. 100 Years of Commitment is an excellent opportunity to discover the great 20th century politician Ramón Rubial was.

His early commitment with politics and the trade union, his anti-Francoist ideals, his long stay in prison, his leading role in retrieving democracy in Spain and the post he hold during democracy (senator, president of the Basque Country and leader of the Spanish Socialist Party (PSOE) are some signs of his long life committed to the ideas and values that gave sense to his life and that we want to share.

Ramón Rubial lived his life in turbulent 20th century. His path of life meets with the main historic episodes of the last century: the strong disputes and social movements of the early decades, the wars against Fascism, the repression, the changes in social projects in Spain, as well as in Europe, are some episodes that are linked to the life of Ramón Rubial, born in Biscay, Spaniard in his action and European and universal in his exposure.

In this exhibition Ramón Rubial guides the visitor through the environments and ages he had and wanted to live in due to his political commitment to the lower social classes. It shows his fight and efforts to encourage the recovery of justice, freedom and democracy. He also shows visitors his defeats during the Revolution of 1934, Civil War, prisons and the long night of Franco regime. The visitor also shares with him his successes and joys, the Republic, the anti-Francoist fight, the retrieve of democracy, his first presidency of the Basque country after the regime, his chair in the Senate, the leadership of the of the Spanish Socialist Party (PSOE), the great socialist victory in 1982 and the subsequent ones up to 1996.

Media and infrastructures

• Digital print in photographic quality, size: 100 x 120 cm, mounted on FOREX with a matt lamination. All of them have a secure fixing system that hinders their fall.
• The base is made up by a cube of stainless steel and an arch of transparent methacrylate.

• Background panels in order to homogenize the exhibition. Size: 3000 x 2000 cm. They are solid structures made of curved aluminium and decorated with vinyl printed in photographic quality with UVI protection, laminated on FOREX (2 mm) and fixed with stainless steel staples and independent fixation.

• In its central area the exhibitions has a monolith made up by nine cubic structures sized 60 x 60 cm. These cubes are decorated with vinyl printed in photographic quality with UVI protection, laminated on FOREX (2 mm). It is a central element of the exhibition causing impact on the visitor and unifying the whole exhibition area. It will contain the logos of the institutions and sponsors involved in the organisation of the exhibition.
